2018-04-23: Auto-retrato de John Lennon vendido em leilão

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/john-lennon-hitler-self-portrait-sold-45000-dollars-beatles-a8317726.html

Citando:
"John Lennon's self-portrait of himself as Hitler sells for $54k

There are several known self-portraits taken from Lennon's personal sketchbook which incorporate Nazi iconography

(...)

In 2007, Sir Peter Blake – who co-created the cover - revealed to The Independent that Hitler did actually make the final line-up, but is simply obscured by the Beatles themselves. ”Yes he is on there – you just can’t see him,” he said.

He added: “If you look at photographs of the out-takes, you can see the Hitler image in the studio. With the crowd behind there was an element of chance about who you can and cannot see, and we weren’t quite sure who would be covered in the final shot. Hitler was in fact covered up behind the band.”"

2018-04-22: Álbuns de maior valor de sempre

... Inclui 5 álbuns com membros de Beatles:
https://www.joe.co.uk/entertainment/record-store-day-expensive-valuable-173915

Citando:
"Setting a new record for a non-autographed, still sealed, mint condition album, Yesterday and Today by The Beatles sold for $125,000 in 2016. Released in 1966, the album instantly caused uproar because of its cover art depicting the band in butcher coats with doll parts and bloody meat scattered everywhere. Although it was intended as pop art satire, a letter was sent out by Capitol Records to various individuals, including reviewers and Beatles Chapter President, Cynthia Winter, to explain that the album was being recalled and the artwork was being changed.

Rather than throwing the album covers out though, a decision was made to cover-up the original album cover with a less controversial image applied as a sticker over the original cover. These albums are known as "second-state" Butcher covers. Therefore anyone with an original version might just be in the money."

1963-04-14: Beatles conhecem Rolling Stones

https://observador.pt/2018/04/14/ha-55-anos-os-beatles-descobriam-os-rolling-stones/

Citando:

http://www.nme.com/news/music/dave-grohl-39-1258779

Citando:
"Dave Grohl has revealed that he, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear were so overwhelmed to be jamming with Paul McCartney that they didn’t realise it was a Nirvana reunion.

All four were in the Sound City Studio laying down their collaborative track, titled ‘Cut Me Some Slack’, to be used in Grohl’s documentary film about the infamous US recording studio, but the former Nirvana trio were too startled by their guest to realise it was the first time in 20 years that they had played together."

2018-04-04: Livro de Derek Taylor "As Times Goes By" reeditado

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/apr/04/as-time-goes-by-derek-taylor-beatles-review

Citando:
"“Spring is here and Leeds play Chelsea tomorrow and Ringo and George and John and Paul are alive and well and full of hope. The world is still spinning and so are we and so are you. When the spinning stops – that’ll be the time to worry. Not before.” So ran the press release that announced the end of the Beatles on 11 April 1970, some time after they had actually broken up. It was written by Derek Taylor, a loquacious native of the Wirral who had served as their press officer in 1964, and again from 1968 until the end, when he headed the press department of Apple, their record company and doomed experiment in “western communism” .

Alongside their manager Brian Epstein and producer George Martin, Taylor – who was born in 1932 and died in 1997 – was one of the group’s inner circle whose comparatively advanced years and very English urbanity added to the sense that, however exotic their outward appearance, the Beatles kept one collective foot in a world of tea, biscuits and impeccable manners. He was working for the Daily Express when he and his wife Joan first saw the band, on a UK tour shared with Roy Orbison in 1963. “Though maybe at the ‘wrong’ end of that generation,” he later wrote, “we were nevertheless open thereafter to the possibilities of being truly young in heart.”"
