2017-06-19: Let it be a cappela

2017-06-18: PM aos 75 (Time, Life)

Artigo da Time sobre os 75 anos de PM. E na capa da Life (foto no artigo abaixo):

Paul McCartney: Legendary Beatles Member Turns 75 | Time.com

Citando:

"There’s a curious sensation to realizing that Paul McCartney — the lad of lads, the Beatles precocious imp, Fab Macca Wacky Thumbs Aloft — is turning 75 years old. Though it may be odder still to imagine a world without him. For more than 50 of those years he has not been simply Paul McCartney (or, since 1997, Sir Paul) but a Beatle, a known phenomenon in all hemispheres, a star of absurd magnitude, and, soon after, a man of absurd wealth. The Beatles last played before a paying audience in 1966. The band recorded together for the final time in ’69.

And for everything that McCartney has accomplished since — the 12 Grammy nominations; the six No. 1 hits with the Wings in the 1970s; the platinum chart-toppers with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder in the 1980s; the jaunt into classical composition; performing at Buckingham Palace; his 2015 recording (hey there, kids) with Kanye and Rihanna — a Beatle he will always be, defined by those prolific, god-given, glorious years of the Fab Four’s prime. Paul wrote “Yesterday” when he was 22."

2017-06-18: Steve Howe e a altura do Sgt. Pepper's

http://somethingelsereviews.com/2017/06/15/tomorrow-beatles-steve-howe/

Citando:
"That is the approach I took when talking with Steve about Tomorrow. The link below navigates to the conversation that I conducted for the two Tomorrow releases, including an introduction of each of those albums. At the time, it struck me how the songs on Tomorrow’s only studio album from 1967 mirrored some of the concepts from Sgt. Pepper’s, and I discussed that with Steve. In addition, there is information about the direct interaction between the two bands. (One point of interest that didn’t come up: Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick also contributed his talents to the Tomorrow production.)

Overall, the content is a companion piece of sorts to the era that is described in the book from the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band box set. This conversation may appeal to those interested in Tomorrow even without having read the box set’s book.

There have been some minor edits made to the original posting that the reader won’t miss, like fixing run-on sentences that at the time I was reluctant to eliminate in an effort to preserve each and every word Steve said. But there is one new set of additions that I felt would be largely beneficial, and that is the inclusion of YouTube videos to help provide some context to Steve Howe’s comments. These appear as embedded windows, and as links within the text."

2017-06-16: Letra de canção de GH sobre Starr encontrada por viúva

Olivia Harrison, espera que PM e RD gravem a música. Sentada?

Citando:
"George is thought to have written it as a plea for the band to stay together around the time of their 1970 split.

She told of Ringo’s shock — and said she hopes the star, 76, and fellow surviving Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, 74, put it to music.

She said: “He’d never seen this song before. He was so surprised. There was a folder in George’s piano bench."

Citando:
"The three stars have been recognised in Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday Honours' List, which rewards the achievements and services of British people from all walks of life who contribute to society.

Emeli, Ed and Sir Paul will all be taking a trip to Buckingham Palace to accept their honours, awarded to them for the contribution they have made to British music at home and abroad."

2017-06-16: Ono creditada como autora de Imagine

Citando:
"The National Music Publisher’s Association (NMPA) has announced that Ono will be given a writing credit on Lennon’s biggest solo hit ‘Imagine’, 47 years after it was released.
The announcement, made at a ceremony in New York overnight, comes years after Lennon admitted he regretted failing to credit his wife as a writer on the track, saying he let his ego get in the way."

2017-06-06: PM e Stevie Wonder no top com EaI (35 anos)

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/paul-mccartney-stevie-wonder-ebony-and-ivory/

Citando:
"The song in question, “Ebony and Ivory,” was demoed in late 1980 and developed during the sessions for McCartney’s third solo album, 1982’s Tug of War. With lyrics using the piano as a metaphor for ideal race relations, the song seemed like a natural for the duet treatment — and McCartney immediately knew who he wanted for a partner. “I wanted to sing it with a black guy,” he later recalled. “And my first thought was Stevie.”

Phoned by McCartney, Wonder quickly agreed. “I listened to the song, and I liked it very much,” said Wonder. “I felt it was positive for everybody. I won’t say it demanded of people to reflect upon it, but it politely asks the people to reflect upon life in using the terms of music … this melting pot of many different people.”

The duo convened at AIR Studios in Montserrat under the guidance of producer George Martin, who helmed the Tug of War sessions, and cut a pair of duets for the record — “What’s That You’re Doing?” and “Ebony and Ivory,” which would make its way to radio in late March as the album’s lead single. (Though McCartney and Wonder recorded in person, their schedules kept them from filming the “Ebony and Ivory” video together — they had to be spliced into the frame via editing magic.)"

2017-06-01: Sgt.
