It was 22 August 1969, and they were all at John Lennon’s countryside estate near Ascot."

2018-03-24: 350+ fotos dos Beatles nos EUA inéditas

Vendidas em leilão:
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/mar/24/beatles-unseen-photographs-baltimore-washington-mike-mitchell-auction

Citando:
"A teenage portfolio of more than 350 previously unseen photos of The Beatles’ early invasion of America has fetched £253,200 at auction on Merseyside.

The photographer Mike Mitchell’s images show the band arriving in 1964 for their first concerts in the States at Washington DC and Baltimore. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, who was knighted this week, are also shown at pre-show press conferences and on stage.

A total lot of 413 negatives were sold with copyright for £253,200 by Omega Auctions and only 46 of these pictures had been seen before, at auction in 2011.

Mitchell, who was 18 at the time, had wanted to photograph the Fab Four after watching their famous television performance on the Ed Sullivan Show on 9 February 1964. He said: “I was very motivated to come up with stuff that was as unique as could possibly be.”

He took shots of the band as they arrived for their first US concert at the Washington Coliseum two days later, using natural light because he could not afford a flash. He was there again when they played the Baltimore Civic Center on 13 September, even getting on to the stage to secure a better view."

2018-02-17: Os Beatles em Plymouth (1963)

https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/history/beatles-first-plymouth-concert-revealed-1207696

Citando:
"Rare photos have revealed a behind-the-scenes glimpse at The Beatles historic debut Plymouth concert.

One momentous day in 1963, the biggest band in the world arrived in Plymouth for the first time.

Still in their early days and sporting their trademark mop haircuts but with more relaxed suits than they had previously been known for, the Fab Four were working their way around the country on their autumn tour when they played the ABC on November 13.

It was to be the band's fourth tour of Britain within nine months, this one scheduled for six weeks. In mid-November, as 'Beatlemania' intensified, police reportedly resorted to using high-pressure water hoses to control the crowd before a concert in Plymouth."

2018-02-07: Livro de Astrid Kirchherr com os Beatles

https://www.creativeboom.com/inspiration/the-beatles/

Citando:
"Say hello, hello to a stunning new book of photographs of the Fab Four themselves, shot by Astrid Kirchherr who according to none other than George Harrison, was “the one, really, who influenced our image more than anybody. She made us look good.”

Kirchherr was still just a student of art and fashion when she began turning her lens to greats like The Beatles when they visited her native Hamburg. At that time, the band was still pre-Ringo, with a lineup of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe. According to the book’s publisher Damiani, the young photographer “was struck by their 'raw energy, beauty and attitude' and there was an instant attraction between her and the band's bass player Stuart, to whom she soon became engaged.” Hard luck for her boyfriend, the artist Klaus Voormann, who had initially introduced her to the band in a club on the Hamburg's Reeperbahn."
