2021-11: participação de membros dos Beatles em música redescoberta

Citando:
"Beginning with a pealing riff from Harrison and underpinned by a steady backbeat from Starr, the song features Hindi-language vocals by singer Aashish Khan, but gives plenty of space for both Beatles to add highly distinctive playing. Harrison delivers a long, searching and joyous guitar solo, while Starr adds his characteristic drum rolls and fills.

Joshi rediscovered the recording at his home during lockdown. “It was lost and found many times … suddenly the lockdown was a blessing in disguise,” he told BBC Merseyside, where the song received its first play.

Joshi said he met Harrison at the studio because, as an Indian, “I stood out like a sore thumb … we started talking about philosophy in general.” Harrison’s interest in Indian culture had been deepened by the Beatles’ trip to Rishikesh earlier in 1968, where, led by Harrison, they studied transcendental meditation.

Harrison divulged to Joshi the friction that was already appearing in the band ahead of their 1969 split: “He said he was the underdog … that he had lost his confidence.”"

2021-10: Umas décadas depois de Starr, Paul McCartney deixou de...

... dar autógrafos!
Starr parou em 2008!

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/no-paul-mccartney-not-sign-143525683.html

Citando:
"The 79-year-old musician went on to explain that cutting out selfies and autographs makes for an all-around more fulfilling experience for everyone involved, but mainly for himself. “What you’ve usually got is a ropey photo with a poor backdrop and me looking a bit miserable,” he said. “Let’s chat, let’s exchange stories.”

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr beat his fellow bandmate to the punch over a decade ago. In October 2008, the musician asked his fans to stop sending him fan mail or presenting him with objects to autograph via a strangely menacing video.

“I’m warning you with peace and love. I have too much to do, so no more fan mail!” he said at the time, with excessive peace and love. “And no objects to be signed. Nothing! Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.”"

2021-09: Iron Maiden's drummer and...

... Ringo Starr!
https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/iron-maidens-nicko-mcbrain-picks-the-beatles-ringo-starr-as-his-rock-god/

Quoting:
"IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain was the featured guest on BBC's "The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker" during the "Rock God" segment. Nicko picked THE BEATLESRingo Starr and stated about his choice: "I've chosen Ringo because he was the very first drummer that really influenced me in my genre of music. I started off listening to Dave Brubeck when I heard Joe Morello playing, but Ringo was my first hero. In fact, when I was 12 years old — in fact, I was 11 — I had a poster of Ringo in my bedroom. He was looking over the left side of his drum set over his hi-hats, and I every night would go to sleep thinking, 'That is the man. That is the guy I wanna be like.' And he really did kick off my drumming career. One other thing is I got to meet him three years ago when he played down here in Fort Lauderdale — the first time after all of those years that I got to meet my hero.""

Quoting:
"In a 1986 interview with the Associated Press news agency, Don Everly said the two were successful because "we never followed trends".

"We did what we liked and followed our instincts. Rock 'n' roll did survive, and we were right about that. Country did survive, and we were right about that. You can mix the two but people said we couldn't," he said.

The Everly Brothers were elected to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in its first year, 1986, and they were given a lifetime achievement award at the Grammys in 1997.

Rolling Stone magazine has described them as "the most important vocal duo in rock".

Phil Everly died of pulmonary disease in 2014, aged 74."

2021-04: Phil Collins acerca de Ringo Starr

https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/phil-collins-really-thinks-ringo-starrs-drumming-skills.html/

Citando:
"Easily considered one of rock’s greatest percussionists, here’s what Collins – who can be counted on for his brutal honesty – had to say about former Beatle Ringo Starr as a drummer. Collins, already an avid percussionist, saw Starr’s drum set in the auditorium of London’s Scala Theatre that day and knew right away who would be on the stage: “I am privy to some insider’s intel: I would recognize Ringo Starr’s Ludwig drum kit anywhere. But I wouldn’t have guessed that The Beatles were making a film. I can’t believe my luck.”"

George Harrison prank on Phil Collins

An account of a funny story I had already heard about, occurred on the occasion of remastering of the triple album "All Things Must Pass":
https://www.good.is/amp/phil-collins-george-harrison-prank-song-2650436438

Quoting:
"Collins was devastated, to say the least.

A while later, Stewart calls Collins and puts Harrison on the line. "'Did you get the tape?' Harrison asked. "I now realize I was fired by a Beatle," Collins sighed. The two changed the subject, but a few minutes later, Harrison couldn't stop laughing.

"Don't worry, it was a piss-take. I got Ray Cooper to play really badly and we dubbed it on," Harrison admitted. "Thought you'd like it!" So, Harrison had an entire recording session with a conga player who he asked to play poorly, just to pull one over on Collins."

2017: Lyrics of a George Harrison song to Ringo...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/ringo-starr-handed-lost-beatles-10647216

Quoting:
"A lost song, written by George Harrison has been discovered inside an old piano bench.

The lyrics to Hey Ring were penned by her late husband to the drummer as a desperate bid to keep the band together.

George wrote the song in the 1970s when the band were at breaking point over their creative direction."

2020-11: Greg Bisonete talks Ringo

Well Greg is one of the greatest drummers of all times. But he understands Ringo. You know he does when he talks about Ringo like this:
https://www.facebook.com/147910631975223/posts/3076630685769855/

PS: Of course he couldn't talk any other way. He's collaborating with Ringo for more than 11 years (believing his words). But the guy gives some great insight on the greatness of Ringo.
PS.2: And this is my comment to the post:
Ringo's the man. Forget Bonham. OK, Bonham (&others) has its virtues but Ringo has the rythm. I am kind of sad still today that Beatles were overshadowed in the end of the 60's by show-off bands (with its merits I reckon, but...). But Ringo did had what a drummer needs to have: good sound, taste and... Rythm. In the end the great survivors of the test of time are The Beatles, no-one more.

Curiosidade adicional:
O álbum tem versões de My Sweet Lord All Things (Must) Pass meses antes de saírem no primeiro álbum triplo a solo de George Harrison, o que mostra bem a boa relação que Billy Preston tinha com os Beatles.

2013-07: IBT article on Frank Sinatra and Beatles collaboration?

Yes, it did happen (audio in my previous post). This is the story behind:
https://www.ibtimes.com/when-frank-sinatra-collaborated-beatles-yes-it-really-happened-1356059

Quoting:
"Frank Sinatra, perhaps the greatest single musical performer of the century, recorded a modified version of one of his biggest hits as a favor to Ringo Starr, the drummer for the Beatles', the group that single-handedly made artists like Sinatra seem passé and irrelevant.

As the story goes, in the summer of 1968, as the Beatles were recording what would become their magnum opus, "The White Album," Ringo wanted to surprise his wife, Maureen (a huge Sinatra fan), with a special gift for her 22nd birthday.

Through the efforts of Peter Brown, the Beatles’ business manager at the time, Ringo reached out to Sinatra in California and asked him to make a recording for his wife. However, a book called "Magical Mystery Tours" claimed that it was actually another Beatles assistant, Ron Kass, who asked American songwriter Sammy Kahn to recruit Sinatra for the project.

Either way, Sinatra was obviously touched by this request, so he had Cahn rework the lyrics to the classic song “The Lady Is A Tramp” and recorded the new personalized version specially for Maureen at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles."
